The specific composition of these pieces leads us to believe they may originally have been vases in the Famille Rose porcelain line, and converted into lamps—or one of the earlier lamps in production, considering electricity’s rise in popularity during the Industrial Revolution. The various scrollwork and details are irregular and delicate, clearly painted by hand, while the same central insignia can be seen on other Famille Rose pieces across Britain and France. Both lamps are functional, and may be sold with the vintage silk lampshades or bought on their own.
