Paula's Table | Spring Dining

Inviting others to dine at your table is an intimate, rare experience these days. It is an artform to be cultivated like any other—one that requires color theory, an understanding of texture and theme, and a willingness to play.

This particular table began as a musing on the color purple.

Purple is one of the first signs of spring. Streaked across the sky with every new dawn, breaking open the earth in beds of wild violet and hyacinth, it’s the unifying thread across this particular table. A bright, playful runner makes up the base of this design in shades of lavender, periwinkle, and pink. Napkins of the same print decorate each plate alongside amethyst glasses and warm, blueberry scones.

Green dominates the spring as well, pulling in shades of emerald, sage, and moss—glimpsed in the Rialto glasses, and tumble of pistachio macarons. Hints of these organic elements appear as well in a central bouquet, the seagrass woven pitcher, and a unique composition left on every plate.

Cut fresh from her garden, Paula wove fragrant jasmine vines into napkin rings as a final touch—a romantic addition to this simple yet enchanting table design.

As you consider your own, imagine the ideal dinner party, or brunch spread. Is it large and loud, or subdued and easy? Is it shared among lovers, friends, or a solo venture to honor a special event?

Pick a theme, find a piece you absolutely love, and let yourself play.

Who knows what you’ll create?
