Description

Trading toil for art was a natural exchange for Seth and his wife once they stumbled upon a hillside of Appalloosas during their stay in Bize-Minervois. For a handful of days, they worked the land, mending fences in order to sketch each afternoon and ride beneath the sunset. Painted from life in Bize-Minervois, France.

Artist Bio

Seth Fite was born in Bolton, England, but spent the majority of his childhood in the midwest learning to sketch alongside his sister under the heavy influence of the American illustrators of the Golden Age. After a time, Fite’s grandfather would urge him to look to the Wyeths for inspiration, which then led to his exploration of classical painting under Beth Schott, guided by the techniques of Rembrant, Velazquez, and master Frank Duveneck.
